Milan Striker Marco Borriello: Slump Talk Is Nonsense

The Neapolitan has blamed the Rossoneri’s poor run of results on bad luck…

AC Milan forward Marco Borriello is adamant the Serie A giants have not gone off the boil after their title hopes were dealt a hammer blow when they lost 2-0 to leaders Inter in the Derby della Madonnina last month.

Leonardo’s men have picked up just two points from their last two games and have also crashed out of the Coppa Italia, a big cause for concern ahead of next week’s Champions League last 16 clash with Manchester United.

“We have been unlucky over the past few weeks,” Borriello insisted yesterday as he attended the opening ceremony of a youth tournament in Milan.

“The team are playing good football, but we are not getting results. Look at Roma, they hit the winner five minutes from time a fortnight ago and in the 82nd minute on Sunday.”

Roma have leapfrogged Milan into second place, but neither side look likely to trouble reigning champions Inter.

“The league is not over yet, we still hold a little hope,” said the ex-Genoa man.

“Then again, Inter are really strong and win almost all of their games…”
