Palermo midfielder Fabio Simplicio has admitted it is hard to put into words the feeling he experienced after rippling the net three minutes from time yesterday to give the Sicilians a 2-1 win over Parma in Serie A.

The 30-year-old is expected to leave the Renzo Barbera on a free transfer at the end of the season after refusing the terms of a new deal and was on the verge of joining Inter before the Calciomercato shut down on Monday.

His flirtation with the Italian champions has further strained his relationship with the club and the Rosanero faithful, and the ex-Sao Paulo man was overwhelmed with emotion, bursting into tears after grabbing a winner against his former side mere minutes after replacing Mark Bresciano.

“It was really exciting to score that goal,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“It was even more because I netted it against the team that opened up the doors to the world for me. I’m sorry because Parma are still in my heart.

“But it was a crucial goal. I tried to make myself available to the coach and it showed on the pitch. I try and work well to help out the team.”
