As Siena prepare to welcome Antonio Cassano’s Sampdoria to Tuscany tomorrow afternoon, coach Alberto Malesani looked to comment on the recent fall-out between ‘Il Pibe De Bari Vecchia’ and Doria tactician Luigi Del Neri.

“I don’t know him personally but have always found Antonio to be a nice lad,” he declared to Il Tempo.

“However, the fact that he seems to have problems with every coach he comes into contact with, maybe it is time he looked in the mirror.”

“With the type of player he is, Cassano doesn’t automatically benefit the side in certain situations given he rarely participates in the defensive phase.

“When you have such players at your disposal a coach must look to create a game plan that adapts to the talent of the individual. However, in the same light the individual must help out by adapting for the team.”

With Cassano and Del Neri seemingly having cleared the air during the week, it remains to be seen if ‘Il Talentino’ will be back in time to lead the Sampdoria line against the Robur on Sunday.
