AC Milan Boss Leonardo Rejects Inter’s Conspiracy Claims
The Brazilian has laughed off suggestions there is a ‘grand scheme’ to topple the Nerazzurri…
By Vince Masiello
AC Milan coach Leonardo was in happy mood yesterday as he was presented with the infamous ‘Golden Tapir’ award following the Rossoneri’s 2-0 derby defeat by rivals Inter.
The former midfielder wore a big smile despite his side’s title hopes taking a potentially decisive blow in the wake of Sunday’s clash, but waved away Inter’s claims that the Calcio establishment is plotting to put a spanner in the Nerazzurri’s works.
Boss Jose Mourinho and club President Massimo Moratti hinted at an anti-Inter conspiracy after Sunday’s encounter as the Beneamata were reduced to ten men midway through the first period when Wesley Sneijder was shown a straight red card for dissent.
But Leonardo told ‘Striscia La Notizia’: “I think that Inter have been winning for five years and I doubt there is a conspiracy.
“Sneijder’s sending off might affect the outcome of a game, but not the title race.”
Milan are now nine points behind their ‘Cugini’ in Serie A but have a game in hand.
