Claudio Ranieri served his revenge cold on a frozen night in Turin which was won by a last minute header by John Arne Riise.

Alessandro Del Piero and Francesco Totti scored for their sides while Gianluigi Buffon was sent off for a lunging challenge on the eventual match winner.

Claudio Ranieri, on his much anticipated return to Turin, elected to start with in
-form loan striker Luca Toni alongside Mirko Vucinic with Francesco Totti on the
bench.

Roma's captain soon saw action as Toni pulled up with a calf injury inside the
first two minutes. The forward hobbled off in pain ending his evening in cruel
fashion.

Alessandro Del Piero was involved in the best of his side's play in the early
stages. He showed his desire by flashing a lob over the bar inside the first minute and mid way through the half played a defence splitting pass with the outside of his boot to feed Claudio Marchisio who didn't have the legs to take advantage.

Juve had some first half joy in the air with Amauri getting his head on two
excellent crosses from Diego and Fabio Grosso but on both occasions the Brazilian failed to hit the target from promising positions.

The Giallorossi had their chances too in an engrossing opening 45 minutes. Mirko Vucinic rattled the side netting after nicking a loose ball while Totti blazed a decent chance over the bar after a weak clearance from Legrottaglie gave the Roma talisman space inside the penalty area.

Ciro Ferrara's side ended the first half on top with Del Piero wasting an inviting
Diego cross by angling his glancing header wide. The Juve captain did have the ball in the back of the net on the stroke of half-time but his curling finish was
academic as he'd strayed offside.

Roma came out the livelier for the second 45 minutes only to be hit by a sucker
punch as that man Del Piero rose to the occasion to score his first goal of the
season in the 50th minute.

The veteran executed a wonderful volley after Diego had gone on a mazy run into the box before Juan sliced his clearance in Del Piero's direction who cracked a first time volley into the corner of the net to give his troubled side the lead.

With a goal advantage the Bianconeri attempted to take the sting out of the game prompting some rash challenges which earned quick bookings for Daniele De Rossi and Nicolas Burdisso for Ranieri's side.

Just as Juve were starting to look in control they conceded a daft penalty. Giorgio Chiellini gave the ball away leaving Rodrigo Taddei to tempt Grosso who dragged him to the ground to force the predictable outcome.

Step forward Francesco Totti who cooly slotted his spot-kick past Buffon to square the match. It was Totti's first ever goal against Juve in Turin and he incurred the wrath of the home support by taunting them during his lengthy celebration.

A point was of little value to either side and the match opened up for the
remaining quarter of an hour. Ciro Ferrara threw on Antonio Candreva for his debut as he went in search of a late winner.

Both sides were leaving gaps at the back and it was only a matter of time before one team took advantage.

With eight minutes remaining John Arne Riise sprinted from his area to break free into the Juventus half. He was met by an onrushing Gianluigi Buffon who hacked the Norwegian to the ground to see a straight red leaving the old lady a man short for the final minutes.

Goalscorer Del Piero was sacrificed for substitute keeper Alex Manninger while Roma pressed forward with 11 versus 10.

Their reward came deep into injury time when Pizarro stole the ball from Diego to whip in a delicious cross for Riise to nod downward and past Manninger into the back of the net.

While Riise wheeled away in delight to earn his side a famous win, Ciro Ferrara cut a forlorn figure which surely leaves his future in doubt.

His opposite number meanwhile will surely be relishing this victory over his former paymasters who dumped him last summer.
