As their crisis continues following their seventh league defeat of the season this afternoon, Bianconeri glovesman Gianluigi Buffon admitted that his side need to raise their game if they are to honour the tradition of a club of Juventus’ stature.

“For sure we hoped for more this afternoon,” he declared to SkySport in the wake of the 1-0 defeat to Chievo.

“Nevertheless, we must put our hands up after the defeat as we didn’t deserve much more after such a performance.

“These recent displays haven’t been up to the standard of a club with the prestige of Juventus and we must now all roll up our sleeves to try to get things going again.

“Even if you are a side full of quality you are not immune to such periods of difficulty over the course of a season. What is crucial however is that as a group you find the power to push through without losing to much ground in the race for the title.

“We still believe in ourselves and I think in some games we have been a little unlucky. For sure it is a little harder to say we believe in the race for the title or similar honours.

“Our main objective right now is to make sure we don’t put our march for Champions League qualification into jeopardy, and to do this we must all pull together and turn things around.”
