Inter president Massimo Moratti has provided some insight into the condition of defender Cristian Chivu, who fractured his skull whilst playing against Chievo on Wednesday.
"Chivu is doing a little better than expected," Moratti revealed to the club's official website, Inter.it. "It was a brutal incident.
"The player has reacted as well as possible to the situation, and the personnel in Verona were very good.
"We hope that the player can get well fast.
"We will not be moving on the market to find a replacement for Chivu."
Moratti also wished Patrick Vieira all the best, as he continues his playing career away from Milan.
"The decision to let him go was made by the society," said Moratti.
"We were not going to let him go if another team was not interested in him.
"We will evaluate the situation, but I think we can move forward throughout the remainder of the season without needing to add players," the president concluded.
Vieira has been strongly linked with Manchester City, reuniting with former Nerazzurri coach Roberto Mancini.
