Inter Midfielder Patrick Vieira Confirms Manchester City Transfer And France Desire
Vieira has announced his move from Inter is down to his World Cup hopes...
The Frenchman is expected to complete his move to the Premier League outfit later this week, and has echoed the words of coach Jose Mourinho on Wednesday afternoon, when he confirmed that Vieira had played his last game for the club against Chievo.
Vieira told French TV station Canal +, "I want to go to the World Cup and I need to find space.
"At Inter I am no longer in the technical plans of the coach. I want to prove to [Manchester City coach] Roberto Mancini that I am the same player when he was on the Nerazzurri bench.
"The transfer to City will help me attend the next World Cup."
The former Arsenal and Juventus man had been peripheral to plans at Appiano Gentile this season, and it seems the move has been prompted by his desire for a final international fling with Les Bleus.
Both Il Corriere Dello Sport and Sportmediaset.it claim the midfielder will join City in the coming days.
The 33-year-old worked with Mancini from 2006 to 2008, before the Italian was replaced by Mourinho at Inter. Together, they won two Serie A titles and one Supercoppa Italiana.
