Palermo midfielder Fabio Liverani has expressed his satisfaction in earning a hard fought point at the Luigi Ferraris this afternoon against Sampdoria.

“Today we got a great equaliser, which allows us to bring home a truly valuable point,” Liverani was quoted as saying by Tuttomercatoweb.

The draw means Palermo stay one point ahead of Samp in ninth place, and with Serie A so tight this season, they are only three points away from a Champions League position.

“I am satisfied with the character of our team, we finally played with great intensity, both at home and away from the Renzo Barbera.”

Looking forward to his side’s next fixture against Atalanta on Sunday, Liverani revealed three points would be the perfect way to end a successful first half of the season.

“We want to close the first half with a win and reach the halfway point with 30 points in our pockets. If we consider that during the season we have also changed coach, reaching that figure would be very important."
