The Giallorossi President has explained the reasons behind the striker’s new deal.
“Francesco and I grew up together and he is like a little brother to me,” Sensi told weekly magazine Diva and Donna.
“My father used to say that he was the son he never had.”
Franco Sensi was the former Roma President whom Rosella succeeded at the helm of the club after his death in 2008.
Totti, 33, has just put pen to paper on a new contract which runs until June 2014 when he is expected to retire from football, but the length of this deal has raised a few eyebrows in the Eternal City.
“No-one embodies the spirit of our team better than he does,” mused Sensi.
“Besides, now that he has grown up, it warms me to see him being a sweet and caring father.”
