Parma Boss Francesco Guidolin Wary Of 'Rested' Juventus
Guidolin does not believe La Vecchia Signora's troubles will persist in 2010...
Parma have been one of the revelations of the Serie A season, sitting in fifth place after being promoted this past summer from Serie B.
The Gialloblu host Juventus on Wednesday, a team that has endured plenty of setbacks so far in the current campaign, but coach Francesco Guidolin will not underestimate Ciro Ferrara's men.
"I would have preferred not to have a break, because we were going through a positive moment," he was quoted as saying by Il Corriere dello Sport.
"We can overcome Juventus, it is true, but they still arrive ahead of us in the standings. Juve needed to stop and change some little things, reset a few situations, rest and recover.
Therefore, it will be impossible to beat them if we are not at the top of our game and they will still be difficult to challenge under the best conditions."
Juventus and Parma have had several exciting battles in the past, but Guidolin does not believe this match will be one for the Serie A history books.
"Yes, I remember those matches. But I also recall that Parma was stronger and otherwise filled with great players. The hierarchies have changed, but the charm remains," he concluded.
