Roma Striker Luca Toni Receives Clearance To Face Cagliari, But Francesco Totti Is Ruled Out - Report
Toni is available for the trip to the Sant’Elia, but skipper Totti will stay at Trigoria to nurse an injury.
Striker Luca Toni is all set to make his official debut in a Roma shirt tomorrow night against Cagliari in Serie A after the German Football Federation sent the required clearance to its Italian counterpart, according to the Corriere dello Sport.
Toni completed a loan move to the Giallorossi from Bundesliga side Bayern Munich last week and boss Claudio Ranieri is expected to throw the Italian international in at the deep end right away as they pay a visit to the in-form Rossoblu.
But Toni will be unable to partner captain Francesco Totti up front because ‘Er Pupone’ has been left out of the squad for the trip to Sardinia. The number 10 is still dealing with an inflammation to his right knee after picking up an injury during the win over Parma before the Christmas break.
Totti will remain at the Trigoria complex to undergo physiotherapy and special training sessions, but it’s too early to speculate over his availability for Sunday’s home match with Chievo.
