Ignazio Abate: January Will Be Key For Milan
Abate feels the next two games with Genoa and Juve will show if they really are in contention for the Scudetto.
Leonardo’s men will then travel to third-placed Juventus next weekend and Abate believes both games will be crucial to reassert their title credentials after slipping to a home defeat to Palermo in their final outing of 2009.
“We lost to Palermo, but aside from this blip, we were coming off an undefeated streak,” Abate told Sky Sport24.
“Now we can’t wait to resume playing and get back to winning ways, especially in front of our own fans.
“We know that it won’t be easy against the Rossoblù, but we are optimistic. Then we face Juventus and can safely say that January will be a key month for us.
“But we must only focus on Genoa for the time being and try to get all three points. Then we will turn our attention to Juve.”
Milan sit second in the table, eight points behind leaders Inter, but have a game in hand.
