Demetrio Albertini: Italy Must Modernise Football Stadiums
The former AC Milan midfielder believes that Calcio must improve their stadiums or they will be left languishing behind the other top leagues and teams...
Italian Football Association (FIGC) vice-president Demetrio Albertini has criticised the state of Italy's stadiums as he believes they are out of date.
"I think that fields and stadiums need to be upgraded or built, regardless of the fact Italy will bid to host the Euro 2016 Championships," he explained to La Repubblica.
"It is necessary for the future of Italian football."
Many have also slammed the FIGC for Serie A's extended winter break, but the 38-year-old once again blamed the stadiums, that are unable to withstand the harsh weather conditions during that period.
"People always say it is the fault of millionaire footballers who want to go on holiday, but we forget that this stop is forced, partly because of inadequate facilities," he continued.
"Why do you think so many teams go to train in the UAE?"
