After sealing his loan move from Bayern Munich during the week, new Roma forward Luca Toni spoke of his excitement ahead of his Serie A return on Wednesday.

“I’m a striker and I love to score and create goals,” he declared to romanews.eu following his debut in the Giallorossi colours against Cisco Roma.

“Maybe this afternoon I was a little selfish because I am still trying to get my bearings back on the field.

“My new team-mates are amazing; however I already knew most of them before I came here. Even the ones I didn’t know have given me such a warm reception since my arrival in the capital.

“I hope to be in action against Cagliari but of course the decision is down to coach [Claudio] Ranieri.

“Whether I play a minute or the full ninety is not important, all I want is to do the best for my team. I am here to have a top second half of the season.”
