Juventus Centre-Back Fabio Cannavaro Defends Ciro Ferrara, Diego & Felipe Melo From Criticism
Juve will come good in 2010 despite all the recent problems, says Canna...
Juventus stopper Fabio Cannavaro has hit back at the barrage of criticism levelled at a number of club staff in relation to the recent slide at Vinovo.
Ciro Ferrara, Felipe Melo, and Diego have all come under heavy scrutiny following a dismal run of results towards the end of 2009.
Voices of discontent have grown louder heading into 2010, but Cannavaro has backed his colleagues to win the battle that faces them once play resumes next week.
"Melo and Diego must block their ears, move on and continue working," the centre-back told La Gazzetta Dello Sport.
"They were phenonmenons in the summer and they still are. I don't think we have become weak. The team is in a crisis, but we can all help to improve."
Ferrara has been tipped for the sack rather than the Scudetto after reports in Italy have emerged that he would be replaced by Guus Hiddink.
But, Cannavaro has reminded everyone of the club's objective to stick with the coach and overcome the gloom.
"Ferrara has everyone's faith. He knows the team believes in him and his work. We will soon see the team's real strength and all the talk will be blown away," he concluded.
