Roberto Donadoni: Napoli Are Interested In Marco Borriello
Roberto Donadoni has stated that he respects Borriello's quality, but he has dismissed talk of any transfers until the summer months...
Napoli coach Roberto Donadoni is busy planning the club's future away from the pitch as he adds Marco Borriello's name to the transfer hit-list.
The Milan striker is currently injured and unlikely to return before next season. In addition, his playing time at the club is unlikely to increase when he is fully fit. Speculation has linked him with an exit and a return to his home town club Napoli. Donadoni has now hinted at a possible move for the Italian hitman.
"Nobody can say that they wouldn't like a player like Borriello in their team," Donadoni told Il Corriere Dello Sport.
"He is a striker whose quality cannot be questioned. However, I think talking about transfers is still a little premature.
"We will talk with [director of football Pierpaolo] Marino and the president to evaluate the possibilities of strengthening this squad."
Napoli were on course for European football but a recent blip has seen them slide down the table. Nevertheless, a final season push could be rewarded with a Europa League place.
