On Tuesday, Lazio striker Mauro Zarate told the press that Roma captain Francesco Totti "is finished." The Giallorossi talisman has responded to the Argentine through his official blog, according to forzaroma.info.

"Congratulations to all the fans, all sports, and all the great champions of football like [Gianluigi] Buffon, [Alessandro] Del Piero, [Lionel] Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Ronaldinho. I apologise if I forgot anyone...

"Since we are in the Christmas season and we should all be better people. I do give 240 well wishes to Zarate. In 2010, I hope to get more goals and assists to become a record goalscorer.

"I guess I must hurry, because I am a finished player...well come to think of it, I was also finished at the beginning of 2009!"

The number 240 represents the amount of goals that the 33-year-old has scored in all competitions throughout his entire career. Roma's next Serie A match is against Cagliari.
