Italy Can Win The World Cup - Fabio Cannavaro
The Azzurri captain believes that they can loft the Jules Rimet trophy once again...
The Juventus defender will come into 2010 tournament with four more years of experience, as well as the knowledge that the side can win their record-equalling fifth Jules Rimet trophy in July.
"We are the champions of the world," the 26-year-old proclaimed to Repubblica.it. "And there is a lot of respect given to us.
"People know that we have won four World Cups, and made two losing finals to Brazil.
"Therefore, there is a little bit of fear in them when Italy is mentioned.
"Personally speaking, I come to this World Cup four years older, but those years are of experience.
"In seven matches, anything can happen, and we will try to prepare ourselves as best we can over the next few months," concluded Cannavaro.
The Italian captain was considered one of the best players of the tournament, and subsequently won the 2006 Ballon d'Or for his exploits in Germany.
