Zenit St. Petersburg coach Luciano Spalletti has rekindled an interest in Juventus defender Cristian Molinaro, who has been tipped to leave the Italian club.

According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, the former Roma boss is keen to land the left back, who has been peripheral to Ciro Ferrara's plans this term.

Molinaro has only played five times in Serie A, making no appearances in Europe. The report claims Molinaro has become frustrated with the playing allowances he has been afforded at Vinovo.

It is said Spalletti is scouring the Italian market in a bid to strengthen his squad.

They will be looking to challenge for the Russian title when their league kicks off in March, as well as next season's Champions League.

Molinaro was linked with a switch to Roma back in the summer when Spalletti was still in charge at Trigoria, but the move never gained legs.

Zenit have also been linked with Lazio striker Tommaso Rocchi.
