Carlo Mazzone: Luca Toni Is The ‘Perfect Man’ For Roma
The veteran tactician has endorsed the club’s decision to sign the Italy international.
Former Roma boss Carlo Mazzone believes the Giallorossi directors could not have thought of a better man than Bayern Munich forward Luca Toni to strengthen their current squad.
Toni is expected to join the Eternal City outfit on a free transfer in the new year and Mazzone has given his blessing to the move.
“Do you want me to be honest? Well, he is perfect,” ‘Carletto’ told Il Messaggero.
“He is exactly the player whom Roma were lacking. It’s true and I’ll tell you why. Roma needed a striker like Luca who is good at helping the team come forward and also good at acting with his back to the goal and feeding his team-mates.”
Toni has played alongside Roma captain Francesco Totti in the Italy national side. But will he be able to form an equally strong partnership at club level? Mazzone believes so.
“Are you kidding? Toni has played next to [Roberto] Baggio. Could he have problems playing with Totti?”
