Sampdoria Director Giuseppe Marotta: Manchester City Have Not Contacted Us About Cassano
Marotta is in the dark over Antonio Cassano's rumoured move to City...
Sampdoria director Beppe Marotta has been quoted in Il Corriere dello Sport as knowing “nothing” about increased speculation linking enigmatic playmaker Antonio Cassano with Manchester City.
Cassano is hotly tipped in the media to be Roberto Mancini’s first signing since taking over at Eastlands, however, the Blucerchiati director claims it is nothing more than paper talk.
“I have read what has been written in English papers,” he said, “but I can assure you that we have not been contacted nor have we heard anything.”
Marotta went on to admit that while he knows Mancini is a big fan of ‘El Pibe de Bari', he categorically denied rumours that the club have received an offer from City.
“We know that Mancini likes him, but there were no formal offers of any kind.”
Marotta also revealed that the Samp directors are pleased with the club’s season so far and confirmed that their budget going into the Christmas break is “extremely positive".
