Gremio Deny Maxi Lopez Will Move To Lazio
The 25-year-old's move to the Biancocelesti seems on the verge of a collapse...
Gremio have denied that striker Maxi Lopez is on his way to Lazio during the winter transfer window.
The former Barcelona player, currently on loan from FC Moscow, has excelled for the Brazilian outfit and the media in Italy have constantly reported Lazio are close to a deal.
However, Gremio official Claudio Baptista has denied the Argentine will be moving to Italy.
"We are very optimistic regarding a permanent stay for Maxi Lopez at Gremio. There are some details that still need to be arranged, but they will be processed during our next meeting," he said to Globoesporte.
"Lazio are interested in the player? There is nothing to it."
Meanwhile, sporting director Luiz Fernando Meira has backed up those claims, suggesting Lopez will remain in Brazil.
"There is no chance. We're working to pay out his clause with the sole intention that he will not have to leave Porto Alegre," he concluded.
