As the snowfall in Udine begins to clear, a cloud of gloom has formed above coach Pasquale Marino and he faces the sack as his relationship with the club becomes frostier, while president Giampaolo Pozzo offers former Torinio coach Gianni De Biasi the job.

Sky Sport Italia report Pozzo as having a scheduled meeting with De Biasi on Monday evening.

The report claims the chief will meet De Biasi to discuss his availability, leading to speculation that Marino will be ousted to make room for the 53-year-old coach.

A postponed clash against Cagliari at the weekend has given the club time to ponder their evolution from now until the end of the term. Pozzo has already made it clear he was unhappy with the rate of progress.

He demanded an improvement or the club "would take action" in a direct threat to Marino on Saturday. The coach took a nibble on the carrot and stick and said "what the president claimed did not depict the reality at the club".

It seems his response has sparked a new squabble into life, prompting Pozzo to take swift action as they send a strong message to their under-fire coach.

The club have not officially confirmed a meeting with De Biasi, but the axe could fall on Marino by tonight.
