Genoa Coach Gian Piero Gasperini Expects 'Game Of The Year' Against Valencia

The Italian tactician is full of enthusiasm ahead of Genoa's date with Valencia...

Genoa coach Giampiero Gasperini is planning to lead his side into the Champions League this season
Genoa coach Gian Piero Gasperini is expecting the "game of the year against Valencia", but knows the battle for points and a place in the Europa League last 32 will not be easily won.

A Grifoni win on Thursday at the Marassi will see them book their place in the next round. Gasperini is confident his charges can deliver on the clubs aim of an extended European run.

"I hope we see the game of the year and continue so we can play more of these important games," Gasperini told the press.

"This is a high value game looking at the fact that we are facing a very strong side. We have to play quickly, but without forgetting our quality. We have to be at our best."

The result of the game will determine the Grifoni's future in the competition as Gasperini attempts to drive his side further down the European road.

"It would be nice to continue this adventure. We may not be thinking about winning the Europa League, but we are pondering the idea of getting as far as we can," he concluded.
