Udinese Call A Press Silence & Ritiro Amid Reports Claiming Pasquale Marino Faces The Chop
The Zebrette have closed themselves off to the outside world...
Udinese have called a press silence and a ritiro in response to the club's slide down the table, with speculation regarding Pasquale Marino's future gathering a head of steam.
A statement on their official website, udinese.it, reads:
"Press silence and ritiro for Udinese.
"Udinese Calcio communicates that a decision has been taken by the team to start a press silence from today [Tuesday] with a ritiro starting on Wednesday, December 16."
It seems the club's actions have been sparked by a poor run in Serie A. They have lost five of their last six games and are currently five points above the relegation zone, as well as being off the pace for the European places.
Puntosport.net claims Pasquale Marino's job is on the line. The report suggests the club's board of directors are considering the Sicilian coach's future.
It is said the Pozzi family owners are looking at Hajduk Split coach Edy Reja as Marino's alternative. The coach has to deliver a good result against Cagliari or he faces the chop.
