Sampdoria director Giuseppe 'Beppe' Marrotta has declared a hands-off policy on star forward Antonio Cassano.
Rumours have been floating that the enigmatic forward could be getting ready to move away from the Genoa-based club, but Marotta has dispelled the circulating voices.
"I don't imagine that he will be transferred. He has a €20 million contract clause, and the future is in his hands," declared Marotta to TMW after the Blucerchiati's match against Roma, which ended in a scoreless draw.
"We have been accustomed to great moments from him, and when he plays 'normally', he is seen as being 'out of form'.
"Cassano is not going through a good phase at the moment, but he is still able to produce a world-class play every now and then.
"He has always been open with us, and wants to stay here at Sampdoria.
"Should he change his mind, we will discuss his options, but from what I can gather, this is not his approach," the director concluded.
Sampdoria drop to sixth on the ladder, thanks to the Giallorossi's superior goal difference.
