Milan's winning streak came to an end as they were shocked 2-0 in Serie A by Palermo at San Siro.

The star of the show was Fabrizio Miccoi, who scored a stunning first and set up the second for Mark Bresciano as Milan's Scudetto hopes took a blow.

Milan had a few injury problems as Thiago Silva,  Massimo Oddo, Gennaro Gattuso, Oguchi Onyewu, and Daniele Bonera were out. Giuseppe Favalli was drafted into defence, while Ignazio Abate came in for Alexandre Pato in the attacking right slot.

Palermo were almost at full strength, although they were missing the suspended Giulio Migliaccio and drug ban victim Moris Carrozzieri. Edinson Cavani and Fabrizio Miccoli led the attack.

The away side immediately missed a great chance as Miccoli's reverse pass released Cavani through on goal, but the Uruguayan fired wide. Nelson Dida also beat away a Mark Bresciano effort, and Antonio Nocerino and Miccoli both lashed over.

Milan started to get their game going and on 17 minutes they went close as Ronaldinho supplied Clarence Seedorf, whose cross-shot evaded Borriello and the post.

Palermo squandered another great opportunity on 28 minutes as Cavani slid in Bresciano, but he whipped the ball just wide of the far post.

The chances were coming thick and fast. Borriello rattled a shot inches wide, while Gianluca Zambrotta also went close.

Miccoli was unplayable

Palermo started the second half with intent and broke the deadlock on 49 minutes through Miccoli. The ex-Benfica star cut in from the left and lashed a brilliant 20 yard shot into the far corner. The effort may have have taken a slight deflection off Zambrotta.

Leonardo reacted by throwing on Pato, but it could have been 2-0 when Fabio Simplicio was all alone in the six yard box from Nocerino's cross.

Milan were struggling but Borriello missed a fine chance to equalise on 57 minutes when he headed straight at Salvatore Sirigu from six yards from a corner.

Five minutes later it was 2-0 to Palermo following a piece of magic from Miccoli who skinned Luca Antonini and squared to substitute Javier Pastore. The ball eventually made its way to Bresciano who couldn't miss.

Milan were leaving gaping holes in defence, and Cavani should have made it 3-0 when he fired off-target with just Dida to beat.

Pippo Inzaghi entered the fray and tested Sirigu before seeing a shot blocked. Ronaldinho also set up Pato with delightful pass, but the youngster headed over.

Milan piled forward, and Sirigu saved brilliantly from Zambrotta. The Rossoneri's afternoon was summed up in injury time when Pato scuffed straight at the goalkeeper when it seemed impossible to miss.
