Report: Roma To Reward Goalkeeper Julio Sergio With New Three-Year Deal
The Giallorossi want to tie the Brazilian revelation to a new long-term contract…
The 31-year-old will be out of contract next summer and is reportedly set to be offered a three-year deal worth around €500,000 per season to stay at the club until 2013.
If discussions go according to plan, Julio Sergio is expected to put pen to paper in the new year.
The shot-stopper has been impressive in recent weeks and appears to have persuaded boss Claudio Ranieri to hand him the gloves on a regular basis, relegating fellow Brazilian Doni to the bench.
Julio Sergio arrived at Roma in 2006 but had failed to climb up the Giallorossi’s pecking order during the reign of Luciano Spalletti, who regarded him as nothing more than a third choice.
The former Botafogo man stole the show again on Sunday as he produced a spectacular one-handed save from Stefano Mauri in the Rome derby with Lazio before defender Marco Cassetti fired Roma to victory.
