Claudio Ranieri Dreams Of A Decisive Rome Derby In The Title Race
'The Tinkerman' wants to see both sides back in top form in the near future....
Roma coach Claudio Ranieri wishes that this weekend's Rome derby was taking place under different circumstances. Both the Giallrossi and Lazio have endured a difficult start to Serie A this season, lying in eighth and 15th place respectively.
"The city of Rome is worth two top teams," he suggested at a press conference, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.
"I hope that one day we can play a derby where the points are crucial for the Scudetto."
This will be the former Juventus man's first Rome derby as the coach of the Giallorossi and he expects it to be an emotional event.
"I've seen this experience when I played for the Roma youth team, now I am going to live through these feelings for the first time," he concluded.
The last time both the capital sides were involved in the title race was the 2000-01 campaign, when Roma won the Scudetto under coach Fabio Capello.
