Former Juventus defender Gianluca Pessotto has played down the importance of the derby d'Italia, suggesting the game against Inter on Saturday will not be a decisive one.

While many see the showdown as a make or break fixture for the Old Lady, but Pessotto feels it will not be curtains if they lose. The Italian claims the real decider will be the Champions League game against Bayern Munich next week.

"This game is important, but not decisive. It will be important in terms of motivation as a win could raise confidence ahead of the real decisive game which is in the Champions League," the Italian told Juventus Channel.

The Bianconeri have struggled in their last two matches. Pessotto feels it's a question of sparking a dormant giant into life.

"Ciro Ferrara has to bring out what the team showed at the start of the season," he added.

"I think the criticisms have been exaggerated. The team has great potential and I think they can rediscover it and trouble those who are ahead of them."
