Lazio ‘Keeper Fernando Muslera Relishing Derby Clash With Roma
The Uruguayan is hoping the thrill of Derby della Capitale will spark the Aquile into life.
Lazio goalkeeper Fernando Muslera is feeling the tension build in the Eternal City ahead of Sunday’s clash with city rivals Roma.
The Biancocelesti are in deep crisis in Serie A and without a win in over three months after another disappointing home draw with Bologna last weekend.
Davide Ballardini’s men are hovering perilously above the relegation zone, but Muslera is confident the sight of the Giallorossi will get the wounded Aquile to soar again.
“We will play the derby against Roma this week and I am already feeling the atmosphere,” the net-minder admitted to Uruguayan radio El Espectador 810.
“We want to get back on track. We are waiting to get out of this difficult situation.
“Losing a few games on the trot and finding ourselves in such a bad position in the table leads to a complicated situation with the fans protesting against you.”
Uruguay have qualified for next year’s World Cup finals after winning a play-off tie against Costa Rica and Muslera can’t wait to travel to South Africa.
“I still can’t believe we got to the finals and that I am the first choice goalkeeper,” he enthused.
“It all happened so fast: it’s a dream come true and I have yet to take it in.”
