England manager Fabio Capello is adamant embattled Juventus tactician Ciro Ferrara needs time to mould a well-oiled machine that will mount a serious title challenge.

Juve President Jean-Claude Blanc has insisted Ferrara’s job is safe following Sunday’s reverse at Cagliari, but things could rapidly change if the Turin giants falter in next Saturday’s Derby d’Italia with Serie A leaders Inter.

“Inter are a strong and compact outfit that are domineering in Italy, as proved by the results over the past years,” Capello told Tuttosport.

“On the other hand, Juve want to go back to having a starring role in the league. It will be a clash between a team that aim to consolidate its leadership and another that want to test its ambitions.

“Inter have had time to strengthen and make some changes. Juve have strengthened too, but need time to mature. Let’s give this Juve a little more time.

“Inter were already strong and made key-hole adjustments, while it’s more difficult for Juve to find the right path.”

Juve lie third in the table, one point behind Milan and eight points adrift of the Nerazzurri.
