Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has stated that he and his team are not interested in signing Sampdoria forward Giampaolo Pazzini.

Rumours were circulating that the former Milan coach had sent scouts to monitor the progress of the 25-year-old hitman, with the intention of bringing him to Stamford Bridge over the winter transfer period.

But Ancelotti has denied showing any interest in the player.

"It is for sure that Pazzini has some excellent characteristics, and is of the highest quality," Ancelotti said to TMW. "But he is of no interest to Chelsea."

Pazzini was touted as a possible candidate because several key players will be involved in the African Cup of Nations in January, and the tactician was after proven reinforcements.

Chelsea's recent transfer ban was lifted, and are now free to track and negotiate for any player.
