Mario Balotelli Has To Respect The Rules - Inter Defender Marco Materazzi

Inter striker Mario Balotelli was pointedly sent to the stands for Sunday's match against Fiorentina, leading to journalists questioning Jose Mourinho over the omission.

The coach remarked that it was a technical decision, but reports suggest that his participation in the Nerazzurri's upcoming matches is unlikely as he had apparently been partying into the early hours of Friday morning.

Mourinho decided to leave Balotelli out of the team due to his late arrival at training that day, which the player did not take kindly to.

World Cup-winning defender Marco Materazzi has now told Balotelli that he must go by the rules, as it is not just the 19-year-old who wants to play every match.

"Everyone would like to always be a starter," he told Il Corriere dello Sport.

"But at the end of the day, it's the coach who has to choose. When you sign for Inter, you know that you could be on the bench, in the stands or even left at home.

"There are precise rules and they must be respected."
