With the derby della Capitale taking place next Sunday, Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi has reminded his team-mates that they have been punished by under-achieving Lazio sides in the past.

The Biancocelesti are without a win in 12 league matches, with their last victory coming three months ago against Chievo Verona, and De Rossi wants the resurgent Giallorossi to ensure their rivals' miserable form continues.

"We must get into the Champions League - recently we have been remembering what it's like to be a great team," he announced on Sky Sport 24.

"The game with Lazio is close at hand, but they will be really fired up. It's always like this with them - they are struggling and then they play the game of their life against us."

'Il Capitano Futuro' added that his injury problems are over, and he is grateful for Patrick Vieira's concerns after the Inter man's elbow fractured his cheekbone.

"The cheekbone was fine in a couple of days, the kidney problem was harder to resolve but fortunately everything's fine now. Vieira? He apologised that night, then he called me again when I was in hospital."

De Rossi also opined on next weekend's derby d'Italia, but even if Juventus come out on top, he doesn't believe that they will be able to wrestle the title off Inter.

"Juve-Inter could go either way. Juventus can win easily against Inter, but in the long run I think the Nerazzurri are superior."
