Atalanta 1-2 Roma: Giallorossi Come Back To Win In Bergamo
Roma came back from a 1-0 deficit to beat Atalanta 2-1 in Bergamo.
Relegation battlers Atalanta welcomed Roma at the Atleti Azzurri d’Italia stadium hoping to repeat their stunning 3-0 victory of last season.
The first chance came for the visitors in the 10th minute, when Mirko Vucinic controlled a long pass and found himself alone in front of goalkeeper Andrea Consigli, but his shot was easily saved.
Three minutes later Atalanta took the lead on their first chance, as Fabio Ceravolo dribbled past Juan in the area on a long pass and fired the ball past Julio Sergio.
Roma continued to look shaky in defence and took a while to create their first chance. In the 29th minute, Juan was found unmarked on a free kick but he fired his header over the bar.
Ten minutes later, captain Francesco Totti won a free kick for the Giallorossi near the Atalanta area, but John Arne Riise’s thunderbolt went just over the bar.
Just before the break, the visitors found an equaliser against the run of play, as David Pizarro’s corner was met by Mirko Vucinic, whose header went past Consigli.

No changes were made during the half time break.
Vucinic came close again in the 54th minute, when he tried a lob to beat Consigli after the goalkeeper made a risky headed clearance on the edge of his area, but it went just wide.
Ten minutes later, the visitors surprisingly took the lead, as Vucinic played a well-timed pass into the area and Simone Perrotta headed the ball home from close range.
After this second goal the home side started to panic a little and they struggled to create danger to Roma's goal, looking a different side compared to the first half.
In the 79th minute, Simone Padoin sent in a dangerous ball into the area for Simone Tiribocchi, but he completely misfired his shot.
Five minutes before full time, Riise did very well to clear a dangerous low cross by Valdes and almost scored an own goal in the process.
The hosts came close again in the 87th minute, when they claimed a penalty after Juan came in contact with Tiribocchi in the area but the referee was having none of it.
In the final minutes Roma did well to maintain their lead and hold out for a crucial victory. They are now in 9th place with 21 points, while Atalanta are 17th with 12 points.
