The Nerazzurri earned a late victory at the San Siro to extend their lead at the top of the table. Goal.com rates the participants...

INTER

Julio Cesar- 6.0: Was rarely troubled by the Fiorentina offence, and was only beaten when Gilardino hit the post, otherwise another solid outing.

Zanetti- 8.0:
Always had the better of Vargas on the flank, reverting to his old full-back position. He also had a few dazzling runs forward and supported his team-mates on both ends.

Lucio- 6.5: Confident defending at the back from the Brazilian.

Samuel- 7.5: Controversially had a goal disallowed and completely shackled Gilardino for 90 minutes. The Italian needed a piece of magic to get away from him in injury time.

Chivu- 5.5: A few niggling fouls that earned him a booking and made a few mistakes going forward with some errant passes.

Stankovic- 6.5: Quiet in the first 25 minutes, the Serbian later became a constant threat with his long range balls that split the Viola back-line on numerous occassions.

Cambiasso- 7.5: A strong force in the centre of the pitch. He nullified any contribution from Montolivo and Zanetti on his own and won the midfield battle practically on his own.

Muntari- 5.0: Opted to shoot in the first-half instead of square the ball when Eto'o was alone in front of goal. The former Portsmouth player also missed a couple of good chances himself.

Quaresma- 7.0:
Exceptional in the first-half with his drive on the right wing. Sometimes he tried to do too much himself, but it was a much improved showing from the Portuguese winger than what inter fans are used to.

Milito- 7.5: The former Genoa star was robbed twice by the incredible Frey, but was able to hold up the ball and play some wonderful through ball for his team-mates, including one for Muntari in the second-half. He received his reward on 85 minutes, when he earned and then scored a spot-kick.

Eto'o- 5.5: Worked hard, but was a frustrated figure dealing with Koldrup. He missed a one-on-one in injury time that many would have expected to him to score with his eyes closed.

Substitutions

Thiago Motta- 6.5: He was another settling influence in the midfield and his flick played in Milito when he earned the penalty.

Mancini- 5.0: Not nearly as effective as Quaresma was on the wing.

FIORENTINA

Frey- 8.5: Absolutely brilliant. Made plenty of world class saves to keep Fiorentina in the match, despite excessive pressure from Inter. Highlights include stopping a deflected effort by Milito and a one-on-one against Eto'o.

Comotto- 4.5: Did not provide any support from team-mates and was tunred a few times by Eto'o. He gave away a penalty late on with a clear foul on Milito.

Koldrup- 7.0: Made an excellent goal-saving challenge on Milito on 40 minutes and some crisp challenges on Eto'o.

Dainelli- 5.0:
The Italian often looked a step slow when trying to employ the offside trap.

Gobbi- 5.0: The left-back simply could not contain Quaresma in the first-half and was not a positive influence for the visitors in any way, shape, or form.

Montolivo- 5.5: A few shots from long range, but he could not settle the midfield and keep any sustained pressure for the Viola. The 24-year-old was almost invisible.

Zanetti- 4.5:
provided very little cover for the defence and was overrun by Cambiasso, Stankovic, and Muntari. The former Inter player did very poorly against his old side.

Marchionni- N/A: His match unfortunately ended on 18 minutes due to injury.

Santana- 5.0: He does not have the same capabilities of the absent Mutu or Jovetic. Had a short positive spell when he tempted Chivu into successive fouls, earning the Romanian a booking.

Vargas- 6.0: The player has been in devastating form as of late, but drifted out of the match and could not get any change out of Zanetti.

Gilardino- 6.0: Completely deprived of service and covered well by Samuel. However, he made a great move on 80 minutes, flicking the ball over the defence and hitting the post! Unfortunately, Inter scored shortly after.

Substitutions

Jorgensen- 6.0: Some good movement and attempted some passes to open up the solid Inter defence. Great effort from the veteran Danish midfielder.
