However, Mazzarri explained that he fielded many players who hardly get any chance of playing and this might have contributed in the overall performance of the Partenopei.
"Towards the end, we could have managed the ball better," admitted the former Sampdoria coach to tuttonapoli.net.
"We suffered too much.
"Almost all of them were players who have not played much so far, some of who have not even played for months and towards the end, we were tired and suffered the high rhythm.
"The games must be closed, otherwise anything can happen. We risked of going to extra-time. In the modern football, if you don't have the physical condition, you fail to develop what you prepare during the week. However, it was important to qualify."
Napoli will now face Parma away from home as they return to Serie A action this weekend in the 14th matchday of the Italian top flight.
