Things could hardly have started better for new Palermo coach Delio Rossi. Tonight the Rosanero welcomed Reggina to the Renzo Barbera in the Coppa Italia last 32 and ran out 4-1 winners.

The home side took the lead in the 28th minute, when Edinson Cavani was brought down in the area by Pietro Marino and won his side a penalty which was converted by Fabrizio Miccoli.

Early in the second half, however, Reggina equalised with a nice shot from distance by Sergio Volpi which beat Rubinho.

Just eight minutes later the hosts were back in front as Cavani made it 2-1 with a shot on an assist by Fabio Simplicio. In the 68th minute Igor Budan made it 3-1 with a great solo goal, and seven minutes later the former Parma man headed in a nice cross by Manuele Blasi to make it 4-1.
