Napoli 1-0 Cittadella: Azzurri Through To Last 16 Of The Coppa Italia
A goal from Mariano Bogliacino against Cittadella was enough to see Napoli through to the last 16 of the Coppa Italia.
Although it took a lot of suffering against Serie B side Cittadella, Napoli have qualified for the last 16 of the Coppa Italia. A solitary goal by Mariano Bogliacino turned out to be decisive at the San Paolo stadium.
The winning goal was scored in the 27th minute, when Juan Zuniga's cross from the right was converted by Bogliacino. After that Cittadella came close with a shot from distance by Tommaso Bellazzini, which was well saved by Gennaro Iezzo.
Just before the break, Inacio Pia wasted a big chance for Napoli as he found himself alone in front of the goalkeeper Andrea Pierobon, who parried away his shot.
In the second half, the visitors looked more threatening, with the biggest chance falling to substitute Davis Curiale, who did well to dribble past Iezzo but he somehow fired the ball wide with the goal at his mercy.
Cittadella were left with ten men after Andrea Pisani was sent off, but continued to attack and they went close again late on with a free kick by Bellazzini.
However, in the end Napoli held on for an important victory, as they will certainly fancy their chances of making a good run in this competition.
