Inter President Massimo Moratti Razes Jose Mourinho Sack Stories

Though the president has indicated his discontent with his side's lack of performance against Barca, he has rejected rumours that the Portuguese will be dismissed...

Massimo Moratti
Inter premier Massimo Moratti has stepped in to dismiss reports Jose Mourinho is facing the sack, but he has issued a warning for the team to raise their standard in the Champions League.

Il Corriere Dello Sport earlier reported Moratti had become strained towards Mourinho following the 2-0 loss to Barcelona. The Nerazzurri risk elimination from the competition and speculation suggests time is running out for the 'Special One'.

However, Moratti has offered his coach the hand of faith. His assessment of the Beneamata's performance at Camp Nou was a scathing one, however.

"Our squad was stronger than Barcelona's on Tuesday night," Moratti told the press in Milan.

"Sometimes disappointment makes people say certain things, but we have full faith in our coach.

"The team was not on the required level in Barcelona. The team didn't even appear to turn up on the pitch and we have to reflect on that."

Inter need to beat Rubin Kazan in two weeks to qualify for the last 16.
