Atalanta Director Carlo Osti Backs Roma Ace Francesco Totti’s Return To Italy Squad
The Orobici executive has lavished praise on ‘Er Pupone’ ahead of the Giallorossi’s trip to Bergamo...
Roma pay a visit to Atalanta in Serie A on Sunday afternoon, and Nerazzurri director of sport Carlo Osti is fully aware of the threat posed by Lupi talisman Francesco Totti, who bagged a hat-trick against Bari last weekend.
Osti told Thou TV, “Roma have not been consistent so far, but there is not much to say about Totti: he is a champion.”
Totti retired from international football in the wake of Italy’s triumph at the 2006 World Cup, but has left the door open for a sensational rethink ahead of next year’s finals in South Africa.
“Would I want Totti in the Nazionale again? Of course,” smiled Osti.
Atalanta have turned their season around after the appointment of Antonio Conte, claiming a crucial win away against fellow strugglers Siena last weekend to climb out of the bottom three on goal difference.
“Our objective is to achieve survival as soon as possible,” continued Osti.
“All the teams must pay attention this season. And it will be hard for us to repeat our previous campaigns when we did very well.”
