Zinedine Zidane: Fiorentina Should Win Their Champions League Group, Not Lyon
Zidane has admitted that he is not surprised by the slump Liverpool have endured in Europe this season, and he doesn't think that les Gones did well in Florence either...
France legend Zinedine Zidane believes Fiorentina deserve to finish Champions League Group E in first place ahead of Olympique Lyonnais.
As things stand, both teams are through to the last 16, but the last matchday (Liverpool - Fiorentina, Lyon - Debrecen) will determine who finishes top of the group. The Viola are currently two points ahead of the French giants.
Zidane, who won the Champions League with Real Madrid, believes the Viola would be worthy group winners.
"[Claude] Puel's men approached the game against Fiorentina in the wrong way. They left the Italians to play their game," Zidane told TF1
"At the moment, and looking at how the group has turned out, Lyon certainly do not deserve to finish top.
"As for Liverpool, I am not surprised. When you lack play then you lack humility and you fail in Europe."
