Serie A newcomers Parma have exceeded all expectations this term, and forward Nicola Amoruso has admitted that Sunday’s home match against Napoli will better define their ambitions for the rest of the campaign.

“Napoli will truly be a big test for all of us,” he told the club’s website.

“We want to see if this team can really aim higher, like everyone is expecting us to.”

Parma lie fifth in the standings after last Saturday’s shock win away to Fiorentina, and Amoruso is now hoping to build on that triumph by condemning his former club to their first defeat under Walter Mazzarri, who worked miracles at Reggina along with the 35-year-old striker.

“Although I am facing my former team, I won’t feel any emotions,” assured Amoruso.

“But my wife is from Naples and I will have relatives in the stands whom I will force to cheer on Parma,” he joked.

“I am really feeling this match though. There will be some of my former team-mates and a tactician with whom I had, and still have, an excellent relationship.”
