Ghanaian Youngster Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu Joins Udinese
The promising young midfielder has joined the Zebrette, where he believes he can flourish like those gone before him...
Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has signed a four-year deal with Serie A side Udinese.
"I have already signed the deal with Udinese. The deal was finished a few moments ago in front of my agent and club president," Badu told Ghanasoccernet.
"There is the possibility of me growing here to develop and that is why I chose Udinese over all the clubs who wanted me."
The international youth midfielder, who is moving from local side Berlin FC, said he is delighted about the deal and hopes to shine like his senior compatriots.
Berlin president Ibrahim Dramani Alfa said they are satisfied with the terms offered by Udinese.
"The terms offered to us by Udinese are very good and that is why I opted to allow Agyemang-Badu to join the club," Alfa said.
Udinese has been a launch pad for Ghanaian football faces such as Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah and Sulley Muntari of Inter. At present Ghanaian midfield playmaker Kwadwo Asamoah is with the Stadio Friuli side as a regular.
Agyemang-Badu, who scored Ghana’s deciding penalty at the just ended Under-20 World Cup in Egypt, joins his new side in January when the transfer window opens. He will be allowed to train with the club on temporary basis.
Some sports pundits have described him as the new Michael Essien.
French giants Lyon, Hamburg of Germany and rival Serie A sides Sampdoria and Palermo were keen on signing the workaholic midfielder.
Agyemang-Badu is a likely call up for the Black Stars for the African Cup of Nations in Angola having excelled at the U-20 World Cup, which Ghana won.
