Roma technical director Bruno Conti has insisted that midfield star Daniele De Rossi is not up for sale.

English sources have claimed this month that the 26-year-old Stadio Olimpico favourite has landed on the radar of Premier League leaders Chelsea, who are allegedly prepared to table a bid to lure the Italian international to Stamford Bridge.

The Lupi youth product was also associated with Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid over the summer, while Roma were desperately trying to offload some of their top stars to give their troubled finances a boost.

But after Alberto Aquilani joined Liverpool in a €20 million deal, Conti has reassured supporters that the club will not allow another of their youth academy products to walk away.

“It’s just paper talk,” the Giallorossi director told the Corriere dello Sport.

“De Rossi is absolutely untransferable. He will not be joining Chelsea or Real Madrid or any other team.

“De Rossi is a Roma player today and will be a Roma player tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. There is not much else to say.”
