Napoli are still keen on Atalanta striker Robert Acquafresca, but agent Paolo Fabbri has ruled out a January move.

Acquafresca, who scored his first goal for the club on Sunday, was close to joining the Partenopei last summer. The move never took off, but despite that, Aurelio De Laurentiis is still keen on him.

"Robert cannot find space with Atalanta, but he cannot leave the club until June because he is co-owned by Genoa and the Orobici. He has moved three times already and federal restrictions mean he cannot go elsewhere," Paolo Fabbri told Radio Gol.

"There have been plenty of contacts with Napoli as the president there likes Acquafresca.

"I have also spoken to the president. The reason the move failed in the summer is because the player did not feel ready to take on a big challenge at a major club."

Italian rules state a player cannot move more than three times in a season. Acquafresca rejoined Inter from Cagliari before being signed by Genoa. He was then shipped out to Atalanta on a co-ownership loan. He will only be able to move at the end of the term.
