Juventus Midfielder Christian Poulsen Savours Sweet Revenge

The Danish international is happy to be proving his detractors wrong…

Juventus holding midfielder Christian Poulsen is adamant his latest performances have proved he made the right choice in refusing to leave the Olimpico over the summer.

The Bianconeri had reportedly reached an agreement with Turkish outfit Fenerbahce, but the 29-year-old put his foot down and rejected the transfer in order to show his worth in Turin after a disappointing maiden campaign in Italy.

And his stubbornness seems to have paid off, as the former Schalke 04 man has become an important piece in the jigsaw puzzle of boss Ciro Ferrara, who has publicly praised the pugnacious midfielder’s work rate.

“It is indeed true that Juve had told me that we were too many in midfield after the purchase of Felipe Melo,” Poulsen explained to Tuttosport.

“But I couldn’t leave after a single season. It was a great chance for me to arrive at Juve after my spells in Germany and Spain.

“It would have been a fiasco for me to leave. I wanted and still want to show my good standard of football and I want to prove that I am worthy of this club.”
