Zdenek Zeman replied to Roma coach Claudio Ranieri, who had stated that in 15 days of training, he had already worked more on the defensive department than the currently unemployed mentor.

This was a response to Zeman’s accusations towards Ranieri for stating that he did not want to play an entertaining football once he took over the team.

The Czech Republic coach pointed out that the Giallorossi have suffered a lot of goals since Ranieri took over, maybe even more than they did when they were under his management.

"I think that at Roma I conceded fewer goals than the ones conceded by the team in the past few months since he's been there," commented the former Lazio coach to Repubblica.

"Anyway, I repeat that it's not nice to present yourself as a coach of a team like Roma, saying that you must forget entertainment: football is made to entertain the people."

Zeman spent two seasons with Roma, obtaining a fourth and fifth place between 1997 and 1999.
